Emperor Taizong was fond of discussing esoteric matters and on the 27th day of the ninth month, he held a lecture on Laozi’s “Laozi” in Longgu Hall.
Chu Jianghou moved to start his residence in Shixing and General Wang Ling asked Deputy General Sun Zhang to advance and occupy Panyu.
On the 28th day of the fourth month, Taizong led a large army out of Chang’an, reaching Chengguan.
Longsun Jiu asked Zeng Jun if the strategy for attacking Da Yu would be: displaying military might along the Han and Mei Rivers and sweeping across the Yangtze River, this is considered our best option; move the people within the city wall to safety and fortify them on the city wall as a defensive position, this is the second option; if it is difficult to move, then we should defend around the city walls as the third option.

The poet believes that since Liang has been in power for several generations and has experienced many changes in central China, they have not had time to expand their territory. Additionally, considering that there are problems at home due to the presence of a Zhi family, it is certain that they will not be able to split power among themselves. Furthermore, because Yue Xuan is a weak ruler who lacks strategies but often makes decisions, and he is also prone to doubts and lacks resolution. As a result, he finds that the strategy chosen by the emperor is indeed unsuitable.
