韩延寿代萧望之为左冯翊。望之闻延寿在东郡时放散官钱千馀万,使御史案之。延寿闻知,即部吏案校望之在冯翊时廪牺官钱放散百馀万。望之自奏:“职在总领天下,闻事不敢不问,而为延寿所拘持。”上由是不直延寿,各令穷竟所考。望之卒无事实。而望之遣御史案东郡者,得其试骑士日车服侍卫奢僭逾制;又取官铜物,候月食铸刀,效尚方事;及取官钱帛私假徭使吏;及治饰车甲三百万以上。延寿竟坐狡猾不道,弃市。吏民数千人送到渭城,老小扶持车毂,争奏酒炙。延寿不忍距逆,人人为饮,计饮酒石馀。使掾、史分谢送者:“远苦吏民,延寿死无所恨!”百姓莫不流涕。
