韩延寿代萧望之为左冯翊。望之闻延寿在东郡时放散官钱千馀万，使御史案之。延寿闻知，即部吏案校望之在冯翊时廪牺官钱放散百馀万。望之自奏：“职在总领天下，闻事不敢不问，而为延寿所拘持。”上由是不直延寿，各令穷竟所考。望之卒无事实。而望之遣御史案东郡者，得其试骑士日车服侍卫奢僭逾制；又取官铜物，候月食铸刀，效尚方事；及取官钱帛私假徭使吏；及治饰车甲三百万以上。延寿竟坐狡猾不道，弃市。吏民数千人送到渭城，老小扶持车毂，争奏酒炙。延寿不忍距逆，人人为饮，计饮酒石馀。使掾、史分谢送者：“远苦吏民，延寿死无所恨！”百姓莫不流涕。
