六月，甲戌，孙恩浮海奄至丹徒，战士十馀万，楼船千馀艘，建康震骇。乙亥，内外戒严，百官入居省内。冠军将军高素等守石头，辅国将军刘袭栅断淮口，丹阳尹司马恢之戍南岸，冠军将军桓谦等备白石，左卫将军王嘏等屯中堂，征豫州刺史谯王尚之入卫京师。
刘牢之自山阴引兵邀击恩，未至而恩已过，乃使刘裕自海盐入援。裕兵不满千人，倍道兼行，与恩俱至丹徒。裕众既少，加以涉远疲劳，而丹徒守军莫有斗志。恩帅众鼓噪，登蒜山，居民皆荷担而立。裕帅所领奔击，大破之，投崖赴水死者甚众，恩狼狈仅得还船。然恩犹恃其众，寻复整兵径向京师。后将军元显帅兵拒战，频不利。会稽王道子无他谋略，唯日祷蒋侯庙。恩来渐近，百姓恟惧。谯王尚之帅精锐驰至，径屯积弩堂。恩楼船高大，溯风不得疾行，数日乃至白石。恩本以诸军分散，欲掩不备；既而知尚之在建康，复闻刘牢之已还，至新洲，不敢进而去，浮海北走郁洲。恩别将攻陷广陵，杀三千人。宁朔将军高雅之击恩于郁洲，为恩所执。

June, Jia X戌, Sun En saunters over the sea to Dantang, where he has ten or more soldiers and thousands of warships. His arrival in Jiankang terrifies everyone. On the day after, the entire capital is on alert, with all officials moving into the capital. Liu Xu charged forward and defeated them, many fell off cliffs and drowned in water. Sun En was only barely able to return to his boats. But Sun En still depended on his army, quickly gathered troops to head directly towards the capital. Viceroy Yuan Xian led troops to meet him, but suffered defeat time after time. Kaishou Prince Tao had nothing else but praying to Jiang Hou Temple every day. As Sun En’s troops grew closer, the people were fearful. The Cai King En led elite forces to rush to Jiankang, stationing themselves at Ning弩堂. Sun En’s warships were large and could not move quickly against the wind. They only arrived at White Stone after several days. Sun En originally intended to surprise the enemy unprepared while other armies scattered. When he learned that Cai King En was in Jiankang, and Liu Xu had also returned, he came to Xindou. Fearing an attack, he decided not to advance further but instead sailed over the sea northward to Yuduo. Sun En’s subordinates besieged and captured Guangling, killing three thousand people. Naoyao General Ao Jiao fought Sun En at Yidu, was seized by him as well.
